Home Description

Casa Victoria is in the heart of Scarpagiano a simple medioeval farmer hamlet higher up the slopes overlooking Pianello del Lario , the village Scarpagiano is a cluster of houses on the slope once inhabited by farmers only who took care of the fields, woods and herding their animals , narrow lanes take you directly to the lake side ( 500 m) or by car some 2 km over winding roads through meadows and pastures.

The apartment is on the first floor and has a spacious porch-terrace for outside breakfasting and dining, a large terraced garden at the back of the house with a free view over lake and mountains.

The apartment has a living room, with dining and sitting area, huge fireplace, open kitchen, two double bedrooms , extra bed available, bathroom with shower.

It is furnished in an accurate and pleasant way.

Excellent vacation home for sailors and surfers: leave your boat or surf at the local marina and walk up to the house.

The Lombardy / Lake Como Area

Lake como is 50 km long and one of the most beautiful of Europe. The climate is temperate although the tops of the mountains in winter turn white . Springtime starts in april and in summer the temperature reaches 25-30 degrees. The shores of lake Como alternate between picturesque villages leaning out on the water, they have grave-sandy, grass or rocky small beaches, pleasure harbors and large areas for watersports.

Lake Como's capital is Como-town which is worth a visit for its historical buildings ( Duomo), cosy shopping centre, trendy shops, especially for all kind of silk wear . 3 times a week is market day: get your Italian fashion bargain!

Food: is Italy not the place for food? You prepare italian dishes at home, but the flavour once in Italy is so different and the smell of polenta, brasato, grilled meat and fish draw you to an inviting open terrace of a restaurant , pizzeria or trattoria near the lake shore .

Lugano, St. Moritz in the high alps, Lecco, Bergamo and even Venice can be done in a day trip.

Any small village on the lake shore is a treasure, get out of your car, and stroll through the narrow streets, cobbled footpaths, small pleasure harbors. Have a cappuccino on the church square, and enjoy Italian life.

Pianello del Lario / Tre Terre Scarpaniano area

Pianello del Lario ( Scarpagiano is one of the hamlets) is approx 10 km west of Menaggio and is well known for its water sports facilities, marina, surfing and sailing schools, Gravedona, Dongo, Cremia, Rezzonico have now a very nice lake side footpath connecting these villages. Enough to do for youngsters day and night ! Who likes hiking or mountain biking, the easy going up slopes take you to meadows, woods, passing waterfalls, forgotten hamlets, here and there a church. The locals once took up their animals for herding them on the alpine meadows, some of them still do and you can buy nice fresh cheese or milk at the farmer's house. High mountains - up to 2300 m- all around the lake, high passes take you into Switzerland. These passages were once for trade ( legal and illegal) smuggler-stories are still told !

How to get there

Milan airport Linate: take bus to central station Milan, train to Como, bus to Pianello del Lario and then 500 m. up the hill to reach Scarpagiano
Malpensa airport take bus or train to Como, bus to Pianello del Lario and then 500 m up the hill to reach Scarpagiano.
Bergamo low budget airport: take bus to Central station Milan etc.

or rent a car and after approx 2 hours you are in Scarpagiano.

additional charges for final cleaning: euro 50 and gas will be calculated

In winter we accept also 3 days' stay at euro 70 p. day by occupation of 2 persons. For each person more , max 5 persons euro 25 per day. all in ( heating, final cleaning etc)
