Home Description

The apartment is on the first floor of a small residence. It has 2 large balconies giving a 180 view of the lake . The apartment ( 100m2) has a living room ( with extra sofa bed) with dining area, two double bedrooms, large kitchen, bathroom with bath . Car park in front of the house or nearby. It is accurately furnished in a modern way and a very pleasant holiday accommodation, near to a supermarket, coffee bar, shore, water sports.

Casa Nobiallino is along the lake road, with hardly no traffic, ( as most of the traffic passes through a tunnel backwards in the mountains), it overlooks partly the marina where you can also hire boats or moor your own boot! To the left of the bay is the Gaeta Castle and to the right Menaggio village, with in front the famous Bellagio and Varenna on the other side of the lake..

the centre of the Menaggio is at 1.5 km, 15 mins' walk.

The Lombardy Region/Lake Como Area

Lombardy is the most northern region of Italy with the capital Milan. Milan is an old town with a historical centre , Cathedral, Churches ( Last Supper of Michelangelo), Monumental cimentary, chique shopping centre around via Montenapoleone street with all the famous trade names , Chinatown, famous football stadions. At 30 minutes by car towards the Swiss border is lake Como, with Como - town famous for its silk industry ( factory outlets, trendy shopping centre, 3 times a week a market for your italian bargain) .

Lake Como is 50 km long and half way on the north west shore is Menaggio, a small sized little town , maybe most famous for its golf course , the oldest in Italy ( 1906) . All along the lake beautiful villa's built early 19th centry by the wealthy milanese families to get away from the humid town. Today some of them are open to the public ( Carlotta, Balbianello, Melzi etc. ) and their marvelous gardens can be visited.

A crisscross boat ride between Como and all the larger villages is a must and you will get out where you like, Bellagio, Varenna, Lenno . Each coastal village has its charm. Admiring the coastline from the water is a special experience which you will never forget.

Lake Como is surrounded by high mountains , with good small winding roads, taking you up to view points, hardly known hamlets. For trekkers, hikers and less experienced walkers : tracks start right from your doorstep, i.e. the old roman road from Menaggio to the end of the lake has been completely restored and you should do at least part of it. This was the only road ( footpath or for small carriages) along the lake. Como was an important trade centre for northern Europe. High mountain passes ( by foot or car) at less than one hour distance ( to reach St. Moritz, Madesimo, Splugen, San Bernardino, Gotthard) in winter all ski paradises, in summer good for a healthy mountain walk.

Menaggio area

Menaggio is a small town, with a lovely boulevard for a evening stroll, or for reading your morning paper, or just watch the sailing boats passing by. Icecream parlours, good restaurants, cozy shopping alleys, music entertainment in the evening in the summer, tennis courts, minigolf, and the famous gold course on higher grounds overlooking the village and the lake.

Menaggio " cuts" the mountains and through a valley, val Solda, you reach lake Lugano, Switzerland and Lugano ( 25 km) itself

For hikers, mountain bikers, enough tracks! for those you like relax, take the car and drive up the good ( narrow ) roads up the valleys and enjoy the views, stop at a small trattoria, eat the local cheese and savour a good plate of a local pasta. Wines are excellent around lake Como. So is the fish.

How to get there

Milan airport Linate and Malpensa easiest by car, but Menaggio can also be reached by train and bus from Milan airports. Bergamo airport: easiest by car, but also by bus, train and bus
By car from Switzerland: Gotthard tunnel, exit Lugano, Porlezza, Menaggio
By car from South Italy: autostrada Milano, exit Como Laghi, towards Menaggio ( 30 minutes)
