Apartment La Gaetina is on the grounds of the Castle la Gaeta, which has a prominent position in the bay of Menaggio with view on Bellagio and Varenna . The apartments of the residence are on higher grounds and surrounded by terraced lawns and a swimming pool for shared use. The residence is at 1.8 km from the center of Menaggio. The apartment (140m2) has two spacious living rooms, open kitchen, terraces for outside dining and sunbathing. Two double bedrooms, one twin bedded and one double bedroom with two bunk beds . Each bedroom with own bathroom. Garage for one car, another secure parking for second car/boat. |

Villetta La Gaetina is on lake Como. Our summers are wonderful with a pleasant breeze. July is the hottest month ( 30 C) , Springtime starts in April, May and June are usually warmish, also September and very much loved by people not liking it too hot. Winters are bright with lots of sun shine and nearly no rain but cold, it may snow however once or twice and the snow vanishes near the lake but stays on the mountain tops. We do cross country ski higher up, and real skiing at 90 mins by car in St. Moritz, Madesimo or Bormio in Valtellina. Lake Como has been an important through way for peoples coming and going north, pre Romanic churches, medieval castles and look out towers are still to been seen. Como is the capital of this region and has a very beautiful churches and historical places. The center is worth to be visited. Today Como is known for its silk industry , look out for small shops with special bargains. |

Lake Como is on the south side of the Swiss Alps and benefits of a sheltered position against the cold winds from Northern Europe. The summers are warm, but with a lovely afternoon breeze, autumn and springtime are adorable, winters are cold, but with a blue sky and at midday you read your paper and have your cappuccino on a terrace outside. Who loves mountains: the mountains around Lake Como are excellent for walking, biking and hiking but also a relaxing drive in your car will make you discover medieval villages where life stands still. Famous winter sport resorts, but also wonderful in summer are at 90 mins drive ( St.Moritz, Bormio with thermal baths, Madesimo) The lake offers all kinds of water sports: sailing, surfing. in the afternoons a strong wind invites the courageous and therefore important international races are held at this end of the lake. Lake Como was already known to the Romans (Roman churches) in the 12th century it was an important throughway for the northern peoples . In 18th century it was " discovered" by the well-to-do Milanese families who built their summer houses to get away from the humidity of the town. Some of them are open to the public (Melzi, Carlotta, Balbianello) and their gardens can be visited. One week is too short: visit Como-city with trendy silk shops and weekly market, Bergamo with the old city, Lugano and casino, the oldest golf course of Italy is in Menaggio, take the tourist boat and criss cross the lake to Bellagio, Varenna, Lenno etc Food is excellent both meat and fish , tasty wines from the valleys, pastries and special dishes such as polenta, should be tried. |
