Home Description

Villa Camilla was built in the second half of 19th century as a summer resort for the Marquis of Rozzano. The family still owns the villa. Lake Como was very much loved already at that time for its beauty and climate. Rich Milanese families moved for the summer from the hot sticky town and traveled by train, carriage and boat to their residences on the lake shore.

Villa Camilla has since then undergone renovations and modernization, but maintained a homely old style atmosphere. It has a swimming pool ( 6 x 10 x 1.2m) The villa is often used for wedding parties or other celebrations and gatherings.

Can you think of anything better than entertaining your family or friends for a couple of days in such a beautiful home?

The park remained as they was 150 years ago, with its meadows and ancient sequoias, cedars, oaks and palms. It has romantic footpaths, surprising water cascades, rose garden, it has also a playground for children.

From the house which is set in landscaped terraced gardens, you have a superb view over the lake and mountains. Tennis court, playground for children, swimming pool

The Lombardy Region

Lake Como is in Lombardy and north of Milan, close to the Swiss border. It is 50 km long and has two branches with in the middle the pretty, well known village of Bellagio. Rezzonico is on the north-west coast of lake Como at 35 km from Como-town. The lake is surrounded by high mountains, which invite for hiking or a leisurely walk through forests and villages. In winter the mountains are snow capped, but the climate is also during the winter months splendid as the area is protected by the high alps from northern winds. Springtime, summer and autumn are temperate. July is the warmest month of the year, but a lovely breeze freshes up the afternoons and evenings.

People like lake Como for surfing and sailing or a good swim, but also for its cuisine : the food is excellent; local wines are strong and tasty. Try the fish from the lake ( lavarello, alborelle) or the typical fish dish " misoltin"

Rezzonico area

Villa Camilla has at walking distance a few restaurants, pizzeria and supermarket. For extensive shopping: Menaggio ( 5 km) is the place, it has a very nice boulevard, charming centre with good shops, cozy piazza's, coffee shops etc. A ferryboat cris crosses the lake, taking you in a relaxed way to see the lovely shores from the water and stops in lots of places, like Bellagio, Varenna, Como etc.

In Menaggio is also the oldest golf course of Italy ( 1904) laid on higher grounds with a superb view, a very difficult green I am told, but also a very good restaurant.

Since George Clooney bought a large property not far from Menaggio and his last movie was made partly on lake Como, we get a lot of attention nowadays!

How to get there

Fly to Milan Malpensa or Linate, or to Bergamo ( low budget airport) , by car to Lake Como
By car through Switzerland, Gotthard, Lugano, Menaggio, Rezzonico
By car through east Switzerland: Splugenpass, Chiavenna, Dongo, Rezzonico
By car through Italy: Milan, autostrada towards Como.

Further details indoors: The villa is a 3 storey building with 800 m2 living space.

On the ground floor are the entrance hall with a splendid wooden staircase leading up to the upper floors, a large living-sitting room with a cozy corner with fireplace , a dining room TV room, kitchen and extra WC'. 8 French windows open up towards the terraces and porticos.

On the first, second and third floor are 8 double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms some of the rooms have a terrace, balcony or veranda.

Further details outdoors: An automatic gate opens up to the lawn and drive-way to the villa. Parking inside the grounds. When crossing the street, you find yourself in the bay of Rezzonico.
