Agriturismo - Al-Marnich - Schignano (Como)

Al-Marnich is an Agriturismo (holiday farm)  where it is possible to taste their genuine products and to stay in their romantic rooms, some furnished with fireplaces. They have a large property located about 15 minutes in the mountainous area above Lake Como.

They have gone to great lengths to provide amenities for you in their lovely restored rooms, creating a cozy romantic atmosphere. Simple, country-style furnishings complete the ‘feel’ of the rooms.  They have 12 double rooms with bathrooms, 7 of which have a fireplace. All rooms are completely self-contained and some have balconies or terraces.

House Specialties

They pride them selves in their freshly-prepared organic health food, with home or locally-grown or produced organic produce (eggs, goat’s milk and cheese, vegetables, sausages, salamis, etc). They offer traditional recipes prepared with a touch of artistic flair, as well as various specialties cooked in their traditional wood oven. And to accompany all this, their well-stocked cellar provides a wide selection of high quality sparkling wines and Oltrepo Pavese D.O.C.’s, all organically produced ‘real’ wines.

JUST BEFORE ARGEGNO, FOLLOW SIGNS FOR SCHIGNANO (from that point, Al Marnich is clearly signed)
From the Como Nord exit, the total distance is approximately 23km.
From Milan Malpensa Airport it is less than one hour by car.

Places To Visit

From “Al Marnich” you are within easy reach of a vast number of tourist attractions, both in Italy and nearby Switzerland. The Val d’Intelvi itself has a rich artistic heritage to explore, in addition to its natural beauty. Como Lake (8km) has lots to offer: it is famous for its magnificent villas, botanical gardens and Romanesque churches.

Do not miss Como, Isola Comacina (the only island on Lake Como), and only a short boat-ride from there to Villa Balbianello, Villa Carlotta and its famous gardens, Lenno, Menaggio, Gravedonna, Bellagio, Varenna to name but a few. A couple of hours by car will take you to St. Moritz, 45 minutes to the lakeside city of Lugano in Switzerland and approximately one hour to Milan.

Once on the shores of Lake Como or Lugano, you can enjoy the various boat-trips either on the Hydrofoil (Ali Scafo in Italian), or the more leisurely Battello. An alternative is the Traghetto (car ferry) which runs between Menaggio, Cadennabia, Bellagio, Varenna, enabling you to discover some of the other shores of Como Lake by car.
