Learn Italian In The UK |
|
The earliest known texts which can definitely be called Italian - as opposed to Vulgar Latin - are legal formulae from the region of Benevento dating from the years 960-963. Italian was first formalized at the start of the 14th century through the writings of Dante Alighieri. Dante is still credited with standardizing the Italian language, as he mixed the various dialects of Southern Italy with his native Tuscan. As a result, the dialect of Tuscany formed the basis for what would become the official language of Italy. Modern Italian still varies from city to city and you will notice differences in the way people talk in Northern Italy (influenced by trade and discourse with France) and Southern Italy, which is said to be closer to Dante's Italian. Courses to learn Italian in the United Kingdom have increased in popularity in recent years. People are choosing to learn the language instead of French or German, which continue to be the most commonly taught languages in British schools. There are various reasons for signing up to an Italian course. Italian is s a beautiful and romantic language. Reading English translations of the great Italian writers does not do their work justice. While it may take more than a brief Italian course in Liverpool to truly appreciate the intricacies of Dante's "Inferno", the longest journey starts with the shortest step. A steady flow of Britons are taking advantage of the exchange rate and buying property overseas. The Italian countryside is a particularly popular location as there are a large number of run-down properties which are perfect for renovation. Again, a course to learn Italian in Leeds may not prepare you for the finer points of international property dealing, but will certainly give you a head start when searching for the perfect property. If you are on the lookout for a passionate spouse, Italy is undoubtedly the place to look in Europe. That course to learn Italian in Manchester may not guarantee you a supermodel girlfriend or "Italian Stallion" boyfriend, but anyone who has had a relationship with a foreigner will tell you that language skills and the ability to communicate are very important (after a certain point, anyway). Italian is the official language of Italy and San Marino, and one of the official languages of Switzerland. It is the second official language in the Vatican City and in some areas of Slovenia and Croatia where there is a significant Italian minority. The best thing about taking a language course, whether Italian or any other, is that you have a tremendous feeling of satisfaction once able to read and converse in another tongue. This feeling would be the same after completing a course to learn Dutch in London or to learn Chinese in Manchester. Of course, this satisfaction also leads to greater travel, interpersonal and business opportunities. |
